Richard identified early on that he had the ability to communicate financial issues using easy to understand language. His catch phrase "its all about keeping things simple" is the core concept of the way he works.
Richard understood accounting, but initially decided not to follow that career path. After several years of traveling and working in various industries, he returned back to New Zealand and completed his accounting degree as an adult student. Then followed positions in an accounting practice, local government and various roles in the commercial sector (general management as well as finance). During this time Richard became a qualified Chartered Accountant and member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. Over the last fifteen years he has been involved in start ups, turnarounds, a management buy out and as a business mentor.
He is passionate about business, and understands the reality of operating one - it’s a juggling act. In addition to his involvement with Chrometoaster he runs his own financial consulting business. Richard is driven with the goal to see more New Zealand businesses succeed through their owners increasing their financial knowledge, then applying this to the decisions they make every day in running their businesses.
The Chrometoaster experience has opened Richards eyes to how important design and creative technology is in todays business environment. He feels the Chrometoaster crew are an amazing group of people to work with, and this is reflected in the quality of work produced.
