A kiwi rite of passage, Outward Bound has had a presence in Marlborough—and across the country—for over 50 years.
When Outward Bound asked us to work on their online presence, we aimed to bring it into line with the standard of excellence that students expected of the brand.
What started as a web re-design project grew into a branding exercise. We brought a modern approach to visual identity design and messaging to Outward Bound.
The new logo makes a point of Outward Bound’s long heritage, established in Anakiwa, in the Marlborough Sounds. We introduced a focus on visual storytelling, a simplified colour palette and strong typography.
An updated family of publications gave real presence to the new brand, from the monthly newsletter The Cutter to The Challenge of Words, a book of quotations that support the central mantra of Outward Bound: "There is more in you".
